I am Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Natural & Applied Sciences at Bentley University in Waltham, MA.

Previously I have worked as a cognitive engineer and human-machine teaming subject matter expert at the MITRE Corporation, a federally-funded nonprofit. I was also National Research Council Postdoctoral Research Associate in explanation and high-level cognition at the Reasoning Lab of the AI Center at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory.

I received my PhD in experimental social psychology at Brown University, M.Phil. in History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Cambridge, and a B.A. in psychology and cognitive science from Williams College.

Throughout my work runs the theme of human common sense: what is it, and what does it reveal about the structure and social function of our concepts across domains? I work across a variety of areas, including intentional and teleological reasoning and explanation, moral communication, and human-machine interaction.
